About our work
-
Most of our pieces are wheel-thrown, though each collection includes a few hand-built objects that break away from the straight lines of our turned silhouettes. Every piece goes through various detailed, manual processes of finishing and decoration, with the goal of lightening the traditional weight of ceramics and achieving harmony between organic textures and geometric forms. We avoid using molds and mass production, celebrating the uniqueness that the human touch brings to each of our pieces.
-
LODAZAL Ceramics are wheel-thrown and hand-decorated with med/hi temperature clays and glazes. All pieces are lead-free & food-safe, and can be introduced into conventional and microwave ovens, dishwasher and freezer.
-
Each piece is individually hand-made, and though they can handle extreme temperatures, it is important to handle them gently. Place them carefully in the dishwasher, or hand wash them.
-
We accept special commissions that revisit previous designs or take on new ideas as long as long as the style stays true to our brand. Pricing for special orders varies per design and will be quoted as we land ideas.
50% of the quoted price is necessary to begin production.
Our studio
LODAZAL is a ceramics workshop dedicated to art and small batch ceramics. Bloomed in 2018 and blossomed during the pandemic, our Guadalajara-based studio is made up of a wheel, our trusty kiln and its members: Mercedes Orozco y Luisa Fernanda Gutiérrez.
